BUCS Weekly Review - The final full week of BUCS fixtures in Term 1
7 December 2023
A quieter day at Clifton Campus yesterday, as another week of frost and rain caused the majority of our outdoor fixtures to be postponed.

It was successful weekend for Water Polo, where both our Men’s and Women’s teams were playing at David Ross Sports Centre on Saturday evening. The men went first, playing East Anglia 1s and starting off strong with a 20-7 win, putting them 6 points clear at the top of the Tier 2 league table. Then our women’s team played Warwick 1s in a closely fought game, with NTU scoring a goal in the last 5 seconds to win 13-12! This puts them in 3rd in Tier 1, edging ahead of Warwick in 4th.
Onto our featured match of the week at Clifton Sports Hub, Men’s Volleyball v Loughborough 2s, NTU continue their unbeaten record to win 3-2, putting them firmly in the promotion spot at the top of Tier 2B with 4 games to go. Our Men’s and Women’s 2nd teams in Volleyball also took wins yesterday against Derby 2s and Bedfordshire 1s respectively.
A flurry of Netball at Clifton Sports Hub with 3 back-to-back games, our 2nd team just missed out to a tough opposition in Warwick 1s, whilst our 3s and 4s took wins against De Montfort 1s and Northampton 1s respectively, lifting them both out of relegation danger in their respective leagues. All to play for in term 2!
Of the outdoor fixtures that did go ahead, a local derby for our Men’s Football 2nd team playing University of Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé 3s. NTU came out on top with a 1-3 win, the two teams are now both on 9 points but NTU go ahead having beaten them both home and away. Men’s Rugby Union 5th team made the journey down to Norwich to play UEA 3s, undoubtedly a happy bus journey back after coming away with a 7-55 win to put them in 2nd behind Loughborough 5s.
This concludes our BUCS coverage for term 1 with only a few rearranged fixtures to take place next week. Well done to all our teams so far, we hope you have loved representing the Pink Army and we look forward to seeing what you can achieve in Term 2!
