More about Riswin
Riswin studied MSc Marketing and Brand Management at Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Business School.
Why did you choose NTU and your course?
I chose Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé because they're one of the few universities offering specialised brand management alongside marketing courses. This unique combination was exactly what I wanted for my future career! The course's recent accreditation from CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) made it even more appealing. I love how NTU blends academic theory with real-world practice – their connections with major brands and emphasis on industry-focused projects really set them apart from other universities.
What has stood out about Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Business School?
Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Business School's hands-on approach has been refreshingly different from the traditional lecture-based learning back home. Instead of just memorising for exams, we dive into interactive workshops, tackle real business projects, and deliver professional presentations. This practical focus builds both our expertise and confidence. Through industry reports and group work, we're not just learning business – we're experiencing it. When we graduate, we will truly be ready for the corporate world.
How would you rate the course facilities and why?
The course facilities at NBS are exceptional, but what truly stands out is our professors' dedication. They go above and beyond traditional teaching – they're mentors who genuinely want us to succeed. Whether it's responding to late-night emails, offering extra clarification after workshops, or following up to ensure we've grasped concepts, their support is constant. This personalised attention creates an environment where we feel confident asking questions and pushing our understanding further.
What is your favourite thing about your course?
My favourite thing about studying Brand Management at NTU is discovering how brands can become deeply meaningful in consumers' lives. It's fascinating to learn how strategic brand building creates emotional connections that go beyond just products. From understanding consumer psychology to crafting compelling brand stories, every lesson reveals how powerful branding can transform a simple product into something people truly connect with and believe in. This isn't just theory – we're learning to shape brand experiences that resonate.
Have you taken part in academic mentoring? What has this role involved?
Yes, I've had two valuable mentoring sessions that have been transformative for my professional development. My mentor helped me understand how to present my unique strengths in a business context and refine my CV to better reflect my capabilities. Through their industry insights and personalised guidance, I gained clarity about my career direction and developed more confidence in my professional identity. Their feedback on application strategies was particularly eye-opening, showing me how to stand out to potential employers.
Have you had the option to personalise your course? How has this benefitted your studies?
Yes, NTU offers great flexibility with an optional placement year. While I chose not to take it, it's an incredible opportunity for students looking to build a career in the UK. The university provides strong placement support, connecting students with potential employers and helping with applications. However, they're refreshingly honest that success ultimately depends on your own effort and initiative. They'll guide and push you, but landing that dream placement comes down to your dedication.
The campus at NTU is vibrant, the teaching is top-notch, and there are endless opportunities to meet people from around the world. It’s a place where you grow, explore, and truly belong.
