More about Clemence
Why did you choose NTU and this course?
Coming from a Business School in France I had the opportunity to apply to different partner universities around the world who would offer me a double diploma. I had the chance to study in a few different countries before coming here but wanted to follow a British Education to finalise my university experiences. I also chose the MSc Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Business and Management because this is my background, what I am currently doing for work, and what I want to pursue later on.
What has stood out about NBS?
Based on my personal experiences what stood out about NBS is the amount of opportunities the program and the university are generating. A lot of support is offered by proposing interesting workshops with insightful speakers, by giving moral and psychological support with staff here to help you with any personal issue if needed, and by also organising events and activities to participate in.
How have you found the course facilities and have they helped you?
The university is made for students and also for master students. There are so many places to work and in different buildings. In the library, rooms, books, and computers are at disposal and it is also possible to borrow laptops for free. Specific rooms are for master students only and this year the university also opened a brand new postgraduate centre to maximise our work environment. Access to printers, free literature resources, the way buildings are constructed to maximise the natural light, and the access to a lot of different restaurants or food shops on campus are just here to help us remain focused and efficient.
What is the favourite thing about your course?
The proximity to the professors and the interactive workshops are my favorite part. Lecturers are open to conversations and critical thinking is more than welcomed. Students and professors share their experiences and we learn from each other. The use of external consultants is also really engaging. Also after delivering assignment feedback is given which is room for personal improvement.
Have you done a placement as part of the course?
I am doing the In-Company Experience (IEP) module which is a way to finalise the one-year program in this course. It has the aim to help a client with a real-life problem and try to come up as an individual consultant with realistic recommendations. The work is done over three months and is an alternative to placement.
How have you found Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé as a student City?
Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé is a small city and has everything to offer for students, it is made out for students. The university is located right in the middle of the city and everything is doable by foot. Bars, clubs, restaurants, shops, train station everything is right in the centre and there is so much diversity to have a great time! So many places offer student discounts as well as events. I can’t recommend it more!
Has it been easy making new friends?
It has been so easy! Joining sports clubs or societies were the way I met most of my friends and even my boyfriend! The university itself offers a lot of activities and workshops to meet people sharing the same interests and they have their nightclub too. A lot of social events are advertised by email and on their socials. Venues in town have also their events and the cultural diversity is impressive too. There are just too many ways to meet new people!
Have you felt supported through your studies?
Whenever I needed help from the university I felt listened to and helped. The employability team helped me review my resume and thanks to their help I got accepted to the IEP. Whenever I had a question or a doubt the teaching staff were always fast responding.
What is next for you after NTU?
After NTU I will go back home to France to see my family then I am going to Asia to Nepal, to hike the first Everest Base Camp for Meningitis Research Foundation here in the UK. I also plan to spend two more weeks there working in an orphanage to teach kids management skills, English, working as part of a group and also to increase their awareness towards waste management because this is a big issue in Asia. I will pursue a few weeks of backpacking throughout Sri Lanka and meet my Sri Lankan friends that I met here. After that, I will start working full-time in sales for the company I am already working with which specialised in trading and logistics in the food industry alongside developing my businesses.
Why did you want to study in the UK?
I came here to graduate with a stronger degree, experience university life from a different side, and make new connections.
Is NTU a good place for Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé students to study?
NTU is very inclusive and welcoming for international students. It has a lot of societies representing different countries so people would find a home away from home. The lecturers are also from international backgrounds and differences are more than accepted. I am part of different sports clubs and societies, one has a lot of British people and the other one is mainly Latin American people so I got to meet locals and internationals. Everything is possible at NTU.
