Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé

Rachael graduated from our BA (Hons) Theatre Design course in 2014, and was named the winner of the Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Playhouse Prize 2014 during her final year.

What made you choose to study at NTU?
"I remember visiting the degree show while I was still doing my A-levels and just had a moment. I thought to myself, this is where I want to be."

What did you enjoy most about the course?
"It's such a broad subject, and so creative. It actually covers so much more than I thought it would and it's always unexpected. I personally love working in the scale model boxes, I like figuring out how I'm going to make something look as realistic as possible but so small."

How did you find the course staff?
"I really wouldn't be where I am without all the knowledge and support they have shared with me over the years. I can't thank them enough. They have supported every aspect of my learning."

What do you think about the facilities?

"I have practically lived in the theatre design studio, as I work best having a space just for my designing. So being able to have my own desk and space has been important. Also knowing downstairs is the workshop and I can get any help I needed!

"Bonington art shop is a treasure, I'm always nipping back and forth to pick up supplies, and they have everything!

"Being dyslexic I really struggle with finding books, so I usually request them, and then pick them up. Saving a lot of time when doing written work!"

Why would you recommend Theatre Design at NTU?
"The course is fun but also a challenge. Theatre Design is such a broad and diverse subject and it never fails to be different, it's constantly evolving. I've learnt more than I ever expected to and been part of things I'd never thought I'd do."
