More about Alice
Why did you choose to study your course at NTU?
I chose to do this course because I fell in love with being in the agriculture industry a few years ago when I started the FE (Further Education) Agriculture diploma. After graduating from FE, I wanted to continue to improve myself academically while also working and found that my current HE course is best for me.
What do you enjoy most about your course?
I enjoy having access to a wide range of information about the agriculture industry and having so much information at my disposal including some of the newest published findings, with all of these helping in the further academic development through agriculture.
How do you find your modules and what have you most enjoyed studying?
I find my modules to be well informed and structured in several ways. I most enjoy my Livestock modules and my modules about the industry.
What do you think about the facilities available on your course and what do you use the most?
There's a wide range of facilities that I know lots of my course mates have used. I’ve found I've most used the library so far on my course and have used and loaned out countless amounts of interesting and helpful books throughout the academic year.
What do you think about Brackenhurst Campus? What do you get up to in your spare time?
Brackenhurst Campus is a campus that is smaller in size compared to other campuses but is a great place to go to university. There are often a couple marquees on the campus at different times of the year for a day or two. Despite the campus being smaller in size there's plenty of footpaths and different places to walk and see around campus alongside Southwell being only a short walk away. I often, in the little spare time I have, find myself either walking one of the footpaths or in the library hunting down my next book that could potentially help me in my next assignment or class.
What is your top tip for someone considering studying/ living at Brackenhurst Campus?
Be prepared for rain and muddy paths in the winter and autumn months. Keep on top or ahead of your studies and assignments as much as possible and consider finding a part-time job in your chosen industry or relating industry if you can to have the practical hands-on experience along with the academic.
Why would you recommend your course to someone considering studying it?
I absolutely would recommend doing this course while doing a part-time work experience job to enable having the practical knowledge provided by the job alongside the academic knowledge provided by the course.
What are your plans for after the course and how do you feel your course has/ will help you to achieve that goal?
I am currently considering and looking into doing a PhD in agriculture and/or potentially training to teach agriculture while working on farms in the future after this course. This course has connections to teacher training opportunities along with information about PhD options for the future that could easily work alongside working on farms.
