Employment opportunities outside of law
During your time at Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Law School, you will gain a wide range of transferable skills and knowledge that will appeal to employers across a range of sectors. Your self-awareness will increase too as you experience different modules and activities and reflect on how they went. Knowing what you enjoy, what you are good at and what environments suit you best, are some of the most important thoughts to have in mind when deciding on a future career.

Exploring your options
Unsure what job roles would suit you? Take ten minutes to try the on Prospects (the UK’s biggest graduate careers website). The results will give you job groups that match your skills and interests and enable you to find out about individual job roles that you might want to research further.

You can read about some of the biggest and well-known organisations across the country and find out how to locate job opportunities in specific industries. There is a useful SWOT analysis to help you compare the sectors too.

- Police Station Representative – assists with communication between an arrestee and the police, ensuring legal rights are protected throughout the interviewing process.
- Trademark/ Patent Attorney – assists a client or employer to obtain a patent.
- Costs Lawyer - specialist legal professional who works in the law and practice of legal costs.
- Licensed Conveyancer - a property lawyer who specialises in the legal aspects surrounding buying and selling property in England and Wales.
Business-related
- Business Adviser - provides information advice and guidance to individuals and companies.
- Management Consultant – works with organisations to help solve issues, maximise growth and improve business performance.
- Governance/Company Secretary – ensures that a company operates within the law and abides by financial regulations.
- Compliance Officer - ensures the organisation they work for adheres to relevant external statutory and regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Analyst – someone who gathers data, studies it, and produces conclusions based upon what they find.
- Insolvency Practitioner - a professional licensed to help companies and individuals in financial difficulty.
Other options where your law degree skills would come in handy.
- Case Worker (for example, family, debt, or immigration case worker)
- Health Service Manager - responsible for the financial, strategic, and daily operations of running a hospital, GP practice or community health service.
- Government Social Research Officer - provides social and societal behavioural research and advice to support policy decision-making.
