Our interior architecture and design course is designed to be dynamic, creative, and hands-on. It will equip you with the knowledge and skills to create spaces that are beautiful, functional, and sustainable.

You'll explore the design and development of internal environments in relation to their architectural composition, considering aspects such as form, structure and light. Through live projects and creative briefs, you’ll develop your identity as a designer, gaining transferable skills that will prepare you for a successful career in architectural design, interior decoration or interior design.

Best of all, you'll be based in our Grade II* listed Gothic Revival style Arkwright building - complete with a studio culture that reflects modern practice, and challenges you to work collaboratively, share experiences and experiment with ideas.

Top tip: Keep on sketching!

We encourage all our applicants to start a sketchbook to prepare for the course. You could begin with an A4 or A5 sized book, start to explore your surroundings and sketch what you see, from inside to outside.

Hand drawing is a vital skill in architecture and design. It's an ability you'll develop throughout your studies, so get a head start before you arrive!

Recommended equipment

If you're looking to purchase your own laptop ahead of University, here are some recommended specifications including for processors, operating systems, RAM, resolution and more you may want to consider based on the programmes needed to complete work during the course.

Software used on the course includes the Adobe Suite, Sketchup, CAD and Autodesk Revit. Although not essential, if you would like to begin training on these before starting the course it would be advantageous.
