Are you passionate about meeting new people and learning about different cultures? Can you speak more than one language? Here are some ways you can gain international experience without leaving campus:
Global Employability Award
This is an exciting award delivered by the Employability team in collaboration with NTU Global to support students in becoming global graduates through meaningful experiences.
The award is open to all students but may appeal to those who are interested in working internationally or improving their international profile, or who want to work with people from diverse communities within the UK.
If you are interested in participating in this Award, you can and start accumulating your extracurricular international experience. Once the Award commences, you can easily add your points to your record.
Global Lounge Ambassador
Global Lounge Ambassadors are paid, part-time roles to work in the City or Clifton Global Lounge, as well as on the Virtual Global Lounge.
This exciting opportunity gives you a chance to work with the NTU Global Lounge team and gain experience in a customer service focused role, while meeting students from different cultural backgrounds. You’ll also get the chance to help organise exciting cultural events like Global Week.
Global Summer School Buddy
Are you staying in Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé over the summer? Become a Global Summer School (GSS) Buddy to:
- make new friends from around the world
- support and welcome our international summer school students
- help us organise and plan social events
- accompany them on after-class social activities and visits
- attend one or two of the GSS courses free of charge (worth £1200).
The activities are free of charge to our GSS buddies. You will receive up to £100 towards any expenses that you may incur, such as going to dinner with students or taking them on visits. You'll also be able to attend one or two of the GSS courses free of charge (worth £1200).
Your experience as a GSS Buddy can enhance your HEAR Diploma Supplements and contribute to your Global Employability Award.

Language Café Volunteer
Are you a native English speaker? Do you speak more than one language? Consider signing up as a Language Café volunteer, where you can help fellow students learn and practice languages in a relaxed and informal setting. Throughout the academic year, you are expected to contribute at least 20 hours of your time.
Benefits of becoming a Language Café volunteer include:
- improving language proficiency through teaching and interacting with other students
- developing leadership and organizational skills by coordinating language sessions
- gaining a deeper cultural understanding
- contributing to your Global Employability Award
- enhancing your CV with language proficiency and volunteering experience.

Student Exchange Buddy
You can apply to become a Student Exchange Buddy (SEB) once you've returned from studying abroad. In this role, you'll offer advice, support, and guidance to other NTU students who are considering studying abroad or preparing for exchange. You'll also help us welcome incoming international exchange students.
Your experience as a SEB can contribute to your Global Employability Award.
