Redundancy

Find out how to proceed with your apprenticeship if you face redundancy.

If you’re facing redundancy at work this may have an impact on your ability to complete your apprenticeship.

To complete an apprenticeship, you must be employed by an employer who is willing to support and fund your apprenticeship. There’s lots of support available to enable you to continue with your apprenticeship.

The government will fund your apprenticeship training for up to 12 weeks following redundancy to give you time to find alternative employment so that you can continue with your apprenticeship.

You may be also able to continue and complete your apprenticeship, including taking your end-point assessment (EPA), even if you do not find a new employer if:

  • you have less than six months training to complete,
    OR
  • you have completed 75% or more of your training.

Should you fit the above requirement to receive government funding for the remainder of your apprenticeship, and are still able to locate new employment, the new employer will be liable for all outstanding liabilities and benefits from that point.

You can find more information on the or by emailing the NTU apprenticeships team.
