Muhammad Zaheer is a Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Chemistry

Research areas

Muhammad Zaheer's research centres on  sustainable chemistry, renewable energy and analytical chemistry.

  1. Discovery Science: Discovery and development of catalytic materials through structural modulation at molecular level.
  2. Circular Economy Solutions: Catalytic processes for the upcycling of industrial waste, including plastics, biomass, and CO2, into valuable products.
  3. Hydrogen Economy: Development of next-generation catalysts for green hydrogen production (electrolysers) and storage (liquid organic hydrogen carriers OR hydrogen batteries).
  4. Advanced Environmental Technologies: Innovative materials (e.,g  MOF based membranes) and methods for air and water purification, focusing on industrial applications.
  5. Environmental Monitoring:  Compositional analysis of  particulate matter in ambient air. Development of environmental sensors.

Muhammad 's research addresses the following SDGs: 6-Clean Water and Sanitation; 7-Affordable and Clean Energy; 9-Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure;  12-Responsible Consumption and Production.
