Dr Verderio Edwards is:
- Professor of Biochemistry

Research areas
The extracellular environment and the cross-talk between the ECM (extracellular matrix) and extracellular vesicles as matrix and cell messengers.
The extracellular function of Transglutaminase-2 (TG2) in cell-matrix dynamics and the relationship of this with wound healing, tissue fibrosis and aging.
Extracellular vesicles proteomics/transcriptomics to track disease progression and therapeutic applications of mesenchymal/stromal stem cells extracellular vesicles.

Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈély much research has been conducted with CNRS- Grenoble Institut de Biologie Structurale, Grenoble (Prof H. Lortat-Jacob), University of Bologna, Department of Biological Sciences (Prof D. Serafini-Fracassini and Prof S. Del Duca), CNR Institute of Neuroscience in Milan (Dr C Verderio), University of Messina (Prof Daniela Caccamo), University of Campania, Precision Medicine (Prof M Caraglia), University of Patras, Department of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation (Prof Dimitris S Goumenos).
In the United Kingdom, a long term collaboration has been with the University of Sheffield, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (Prof Tim Jonson and Dr Phil Watson) and with Prof Dave Abraham, Institute of Immunity and Transplantation, at University College London (UCL).

- Extracellular vesicles -cell and -ECM dynamics
- Mesenchymal Stem Cells extracellular vesicles in neuronal cell survival
- Extracellular transglutaminase-2 in aging, neurodegeneration and fibrosis
- Urinary extracellular vesicles proteomics/transcriptomics and markers of CKD progression
