Dale is a Senior Lecturer of Sport Management in the School of Science and Technology.
Career overview
Dale completed both his undergraduate degree in Sport Business Management and Masters degree in Sport, Law and Society before working within the sports industry for over a decade.
He has held a range of roles including: sport business owner, sports academy manager, sports development officer, head coach, coach educator and talented athlete lifestyle advisor.
Notable achievements include building a full pathway of participation for American football in the Leeds region, founding his own sport business, leading large-scale Sport England funded projects to successful completion and head coaching a University American football programme to a BUCS national championship. Dale has a strong network within the sports industry having collaborated with numerous national governing bodies, community clubs and schools to develop sporting programmes.
Since joining NTU in the summer of 2023 his role has included leading the L4 'External Business Environment' module on BSc (Hons) Sport Science and Management and leading the 'Advanced Leadership and Communication Practice' and 'Sport Business and Law: Global Issues and Challenges' modules on the MSc Sport Management course.
He is currently undertaking a PhD in which he is investigating how parents and coaches negotiate risk in children's sport, with the view to influencing policy and practice. In addition, Dale is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is a HEA Champion and Reviewer.
