Role
Orla Slattery is a Senior Lecturer at Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Law School, Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé.
Orla teaches on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, she is a co-module leader for Criminal Law modules on the Solicitor’s Qualification Exam (SQE) Preparation Courses.
Orla is also undertaking research in relation to sentencing.

Orla teaches Criminal Law with Mooting and Applied Legal Knowledge on the LLB. Orla teaches Criminal Practice on the SQE preparation courses.
Career overview
Orla originally studied Philosophy as an undergraduate, before converting to law. She worked in the Crown Prosecution Service prior to qualification as a solicitor. She then moved to private practice and became an accredited police station representative, before qualifying as a Solicitor Advocate. She worked as a duty solicitor, then moved to work providing in house legal advice to the police service.
Orla joined Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Law School in 2022.
Research areas
Orla is contributing to a project for the Sentencing Council (Ministry of Justice), reviewing sentencing guidelines for domestic abuse offending.
External activity
Orla is a trustee of the Sentencing Academy.
