Role
Dr. Blaszko is a module leader for various programmes at Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Institute of Education (NIoE), Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé (NTU): one of the country’s leading institutions for initial teacher training and a recognised centre for education.
He has taught a range of courses within NTU’s Clifton and Mansfield provisions, including BA (Hons) Education Studies, BA (Hons) Education Studies and Psychology, FdA Education, FdA Education Policy and Practice, and BA (Hons) Childhood Studies.
Dr. Blaszko is eager to develop new partnerships with institutions to enhance research that effectively translates into educational practice, aiming to maximise its impact on education through the lens of public health. Dr. Blaszko is an accomplished Lecturer at the NIoE, with a focus on advancing innovative education through real-world applications of theory. Since joining NIoE in 2020, Dr. Blaszko has played a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education across diverse programmes. His module leadership in key areas such as Language and Literacies (Sociology of Education) and Educational Contexts (Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Perspectives of Education) reflects his deep understanding of the contemporary Education sector.
In addition to his role at NTU, Dr Blaszko previously performed the role of a Lecturer at the Centre for Lifelong Learning at the University of Warwick, where he further honed his higher education teaching skills and independent study supervision skills. Dr Blaszko is an active researcher with upcoming presentations at the British Psychology Society conference at the University of Cambridge and several publications in preparation to disseminate his research findings. His involvement with the Education Motivation and Learning Research Group which is part of the Centre for Research in Language, Education and Developmental Inequalities, the British Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Studies Association, and the British Psychological Society, further reflects his commitment to both teaching and research. Research areas
Dr. Blaszko’s research primarily focuses on the intersection of education, adolescent wellbeing, and public health. His doctoral thesis, Exploring the Effects of Homework on Secondary School Adolescents’ Leisure, investigated the impact of academic demands on non-academic aspects of adolescents' lives, contributing to a deeper understanding of how social and educational contexts influence motivation, learning, and wellbeing. This work aligns with his broader vision of creating evidence-based strategies that address socio-economic challenges in education while prioritising student wellbeing.
Building on his previous work, Dr. Blaszko’s next research phase will explore sustainable approaches in education, focusing on the integration of the latest technologies, such as artificial intelligence. This progression reflects a natural evolution of his research interests, combining his expertise in public health, adolescent wellbeing, and education with innovative technological solutions to address contemporary challenges.
