Role

Stella's academic responsibilities include teaching on BA(Hons) Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Fashion Business top-up degree, both at Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé and for our collaborative partner institution (HKDI) in Hong Kong. With the main focus on the 40 credit Personal Project module, this entails project supervision, lecturing, tutorials and assessment. She also teaches on other modules within the subject area such as Fashion Marketing and Branding and Fashion Product Development.

Research areas

  • How emotional durability can influence sustainable consumption of fashion products by consumers.
  • The development of technical processes and design strategies within fashion product development to achieve longer lasting clothes
  • Design management in relation to sustainable fashion products.

External activity

Stella has extensive experience in fashion knitwear design and product development, working for global retail and manufacturing organisations at a senior level. In 2007 she set up her own childrenswear and accessories business 'Stella James', designing and sourcing products made from organic raw materials.
