Rob Flint

Senior Lecturer

Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé School of Art & Design

Rob was educated at Sussex University, Royal College of Art, and University of the Arts. He holds a PhD from University of the Arts (UAL), and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy

Rob is teaching on graduate and undergraduate modules in Fine Art. His artistic practice and research engages with diverse contexts including sound and moving image technology, and socially engaged performance practice. He is an active participant in the Language-Based Practices Artistic Research Group, which is convened by (among others) colleague Emma Cocker, Associate Professor in the School of Art, Design and Digital Arts. His participatory spoken word performance: Like Work/Come il Lavoro was presented in the Research Pavilion at the Venice Biennial in 2019, and other instances of this body of work, where a text 'score' is declaimed by unrehearsed volunteers in an immersive ritual, have been presented in the UK and mainland Europe at locations including New Art Exchange, South London Gallery, and most recently at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna. Rob's moving image practice also combines performance with digital sound and audio, in screenings, immersive installation, and live 'a/v performance' projection.
