Role
Beverley is the Head of the Department of Higher Education within the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences. As the Head she leads a large and diverse team of academics and has oversight of the departments undergraduate and postgraduate course portfolio as well as the day to day running of the department. Beverley is Line Manager for the departments team of Principal Lecturers and is responsible for effective workload and workforce planning. Beverley is a member of the School Executive Team and is also involved in a range of university-wide projects. Beverley is a Fellow Member of the Higher Education Academy and the Institute of Biomedical Science. She is also a Chartered Scientist and is Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Beverley is an External Examiner at several academic institutions and is a School Practice Pathway Lead.
Career overview
Beverley began her career as a Health and Care Professions Council Registered Biomedical Scientist in the NHS, progressing to the level of Senior Biomedical Scientist in Haematology and Transfusion Practice at Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé University Hospitals. She then made the move to academia, joining the Department of Biosciences at Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé as Senior Lecturer and Clinical Tutor in Biomedical Science. During this time she had oversight of an Institute of Biomedical Science-accredited course which for students resulted in them being HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientists and fully trained for highly skilled employment. After several years Beverley became Principal Lecturer with responsibility for the Biosciences IBMS accredited suite of courses as well as leading the staff who teach on them. She also became Practice Lead for the department and was Course Leader for BSc Biomedical Science. Further along the line Beverley took on the role of Deputy Head of Department and was also Acting Head of Department during the COVID-19 pandemic. Beverley now holds the position of Head of the Department of Higher Education in the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences where she utilises her leadership, practice and course design experience to run a large and diverse team of academics, delivering teaching, research, scholarship and practice success.

Beverley is an active member of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and is an External Examiner for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses at several institutions across the UK.
