BUCS Weekly Review – A full house for badminton as NTU teams achieve 22 wins across the board

9 November 2023

This week saw the return of the Conference Cup, the Midlands knockout competition where our teams competed to make it through to the last 16. A successful week for the teams in pink with 22 wins across the board.

NTU Badminton celebrating victory

An outstanding week for the Badminton club saw them complete a full house of wins for every team. All the Men’s teams and the Women’s 2nd team made it through to the next round of Conference Cup fixtures, whilst the Women’s 1st team took their first win in the Tier 1 league after being promoted last year, beating Warwick 2s 3-5!

A very strong week for Volleyball too, where Men’s and Women’s 2nd teams took the Cup victories both beating their opponents 0-3.

Some close games in the Men’s Football Conference Cup with a couple having to go to extra time; our 2nd team playing Oxford 3s had to dig deep defensively to draw 0-0 after extra time, only to go and take the win on penalties! Whilst our Men’s 1st team continued their winning streak in Prem North to beat close rivals University of Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé 0-1.

Women’s Football also had three fantastic results: our 1st team winning away at Birmingham 0-2, normally one of their toughest opponents. The 2nd team took their first ever win in Tier 1 after being promoted last season, beating Warwick 3-1, and the 3rd team won their Conference Cup fixture 1-17 against Warwick 3s.

Good luck to our Snowsports Club who will be making the long trip to Edinburgh today ahead of the British University Dryslope Championships taking place tomorrow at the Midlothian Snowsports Centre – we can’t wait to see how you get on!
