Introduction:

Learning a foreign language is a wonderful opportunity to not only learn the language itself, but also to reveal different perspectives on life, enabling you to explore new cultures through a different lens.

Our courses are more than just engaging classroom sessions supported by excellent online resources.

You’ll also have the option to take assessments and be awarded a Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé (NTU) Language Programme Certificate of Achievement.

You can find more details about these awards at www.ntu.ac.uk/ulp

What you’ll study

Our language classes are divided into Stages. Stage one is designed for real beginners whilst stage six and seven are for advanced learners. Check out the entry requirements to determine which stage is most appropriate for you. Some languages are available across levels in terms of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). For more information, see our 'Awards' section.

Business English Stage 5 is the right stage for you if you have studied towards level B2 but have not completed it yet.

Topics include marketing, branding, language for advertising and interpreting and presenting graphs. Communication skills in business meetings and across cultures are central to the module.

At the end of the course, you will be able, for example, to summarise business related extended written and spoken texts, as well as present, discuss and debate complex ideas in business meetings.

By the end of stage 5, you should have reached the level of B2 in most skills in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Business English stage 6 is the right stage for you if you are ready to start C1 level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Topic areas are varied and focus on business related content and activities to develop your level not only in your present endeavours, but to better prepare you and build confidence in the real world of business.

During the course, you will have the opportunity to study topics related to your own interests.

At the end of the course, you will be able, for example, to summarise extended written and spoken texts, as well as discuss and debate complex business ideas, and you should have reached the level of C1 in some skills in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Business English Stage 7 is the right stage for you if you have successfully completed EFL Stage 6 or Business English Stage 6 or have otherwise studied at level C1, but not completed it yet.

Topics include risk assessment, business models, intercultural communication and the product in the global market.

You will study soft skills for informal and formal business contexts such as giving presentations, leadership and working in groups.

At the end of the course, you will be able, for example, to give effective presentations and express complex information in essays and business meetings.

By the end of stage 7, you should have reached the level of C1 in most skills in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
