Travel information to City Campus

If you’re planning to travel by bike, information on the location of cycle storage and facilities can be found on this page. With 328 bike stands on this campus, a mixture of secure caged and sheltered, there are plenty of places to park your bike.

The NTU Cycle Hub is based on City Campus, there you can access bike hire and discounted bike maintenance.

Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Station is a short walk from the city centre. When you arrive, our City Campus is best reached by tram – follow the signs from your platform, and head north on the Phoenix Park or Hucknall lines. The Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé tram stop is less than 10 minutes away.

  • Prices: £2.20 per adult (single), £3.50 (return), £4 (unlimited day ticket) – a £1 short hop’ ticket will get you a single trip between Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Station and NTU.  At weekends, discounted group tickets are available. Make sure you purchase your ticket at the tram stop before boarding.
  • Frequency: Trams leave from Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Station every 7-10 minutes.

The City Campus is easily accessible by , which all stop within a 5 minute walk from the campus. Uni 4 provides a direct link from Clifton Campus and the Station, on weekdays during term time, to the City Campus. Discounted fares are available to all NTU students through the NCTX Buses app.

Dependent on which direction you're visiting NTU from, you may find visiting use by tram the easiest way to reach us.

Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé has an extensive tram system run by Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Express Transport (NET) that includes a stop outside of our City Campus.

You must buy tickets before you travel as checks do take place regularly. Find more travel information on the .

Coach and Megabus services are located on Station Street, adjacent to the train station. You can take a tram from the station to the Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé stop. The  includes all the information you’ll need for fairs, timetables, and maps.

If you’re travelling to Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé by car, we recommend you use the city’s park and ride services and continue your journey by tram or bus, as parking in the centre can quickly become expensive. We recommend that you use one of the following sites and board any tram serving Toton Lane or Clifton South:

  • The Forest (NG7 6AQ)
  • Phoenix Park (NG8 6AS)
  • Toton Lane (NG9 7JA)

Make sure you buy a ticket before you board the tram to avoid penalty fares and alight at the Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé stop. Visit the  for more information on the city’s park and ride services.

East Midlands Airport is just 15 miles from Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé city centre and there is a  between the airport and the city centre.

If you’re planning to travel by bike, see our information on the location of cycle storage and facilities. With 465 bike stands on this campus, a mixture of secure caged and sheltered, there are plenty of places to park your bike.

If you’re planning on coming by train, timetable information is available from . Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Station is located approximately four miles from our Clifton Campus.

You can also catch the Go2 Uni 4 bus from just outside the station from every seven minutes at peak lecture times, and until midnight Monday–Saturday. There's also a nightbus on the route connecting the railway station to Clifton Campus. Visit the  website for more information.

South Notts 1 stops outside Clifton Campus every day throughout the year, providing a regular link to Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé City Centre and Loughborough. Clifton Campus is easily accessible by tram and the nearest stop is Rivergreen on the .

Brackenhurst Estate

If you’re planning on coming by train, timetable information is available from . The closest station to our Brackenhurst Campus is Lowdham.

Pathfinder 26 bus service will take you to our Brackenhurst Campus in 45 minutes. The bus leaves every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes and hourly evenings and Sunday daytimes from King Street, just off the Old Market Square. N26 operates until 3 AM every Friday and Saturday night. Discounted fares are available to all NTU students through the NCTX Buses app.

Start of term - September 2024

An additional Number 26 bus to Brackenhurst Campus will be leaving the King Street bus stop at 7:55 AM, this will be running Monday to Friday from 23 September – 11 October 2024. This is to aid the amount of students scheduled to start at 9 AM at this campus during the first 3 weeks of term.

This duplicated bus will be a Sharpes bus that will be displayed as ‘On Hire to NCT’ and is only available for NTU students. The bus will service all of the stops on the usual to Brackenhurst Campus. However, it will only run one way from the City Centre to Brackenhurst Campus.

Students can pay the £2 fee for a single ticket when boarding the bus - please be aware that only cash payments can be accepted on the Sharpes bus. The NCT easy rider passes or academic bus pass can be used by displaying the pass via the NCT App to the driver.

The postcode for NTU Mansfield is NG18 5BH. Free parking is available for staff and students on-site. For access to the car park, please use the entrance on Cauldwell Road.

NTU Mansfield is around an 8-minute drive or 35-minute walk from Mansfield train station.

Trains to Mansfield from Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé city centre take approximately 40 minutes and run regularly throughout the day.

Travel information to NTU London

The closest underground Tube stations to NTU London are Whitechapel and Aldgate East (District, Hammersmith and City lines), and Shadwell (DLR, Overground). All are a 10 minute walk away. You’ll find all the information you need on the .

London has several major train terminals (including King’s Cross/St Pancras, Euston, Paddington, Victoria and Liverpool Street), which are serviced by trains from around the UK. Further information on travelling by train is available on the .

The Tube, buses and taxis can all be used for onward travel from the major train stations.

If you are getting a taxi from a train station, only use registered, metered taxis from taxi ranks and confirm the approximate price before starting the journey.

NTU London is served by many Transport for London bus routes.

Buses travelling from East to West (towards Liverpool Street or Tower Hill) stop at the Henriques Street Stop U opposite NTU London on Commercial Road.

Buses travelling from West to East (towards Limehouse) stop at the Henriques Street Stop P outside NTU London on Commercial Road.

Services to these stops include route numbers: 15, 115, 135, N15 and N550. You’ll find more information on the .

National Express and MegaBus coaches stop at London Victoria Station, which is a 40-minute tube ride away from NTU London.

NTU London is very well connected and there are easy connections from all major London airports (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City Airport) via coach and train.

There are also taxis available from all the airports. Use only registered, metered taxis from taxi ranks and confirm the approximate price before starting the journey.

Driving in London can often be in heavy traffic, so public transport is often a faster way of getting around.

NTU London is currently outside the Congestion Charge zone, but inside the ULEZ and LEZ and DVS scheme areas, but depending on the route you take, you might go through the Congestion Charge zone. More information on these schemes and travelling by car in London can be found on the .
