In celebration of Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Women’s Day, Final Year Fashion Management students hosted a community event with some of the leading fashion industry experts to talk 'all things #BreakTheBias'. Keynote speaker, Jane Shepherdson set the scene with an insightful talk about her career as a Buying Director at TopShop, CEO of Whistles and most recently at My Wardrobe HQ, a luxury rental platform. Industry experts Nadia King, Fabiha Sultana and Emma Edmonson also shared their own experiences at the event.
The panel discussed important themes covering; imposter syndrome, diversity and inclusivity, sustainable and ethical practice and how to lead and inspire as a woman in the fashion industry.
We caught up with one of the students, Georgia Da Silva, on what it was like to interview the panel and what means to her. Georgia said: “I was quite nervous speaking in front of so many people, but once I started chatting with the speakers, I felt so much more relaxed. The speakers were so inspirational, and it was amazing to gain insight from such intelligent women. For me, Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈé Women’s Day is a celebration of how far we have come and it's an important milestone to discuss what future steps need to be taken for women’s wellbeing”.
