Accessing Higher Education
NTU’s Mansfield Hub is located on the same site as West Å·ÃÀ¾ÞÈéshire College, approximately 1.5 miles from the centre of Mansfield town.
The hub offers higher education courses in a range of subjects including engineering, construction, early years teaching, criminal justice, sport science, business and nursing.
There is a clear pathway to studying a full degree at NTU for those who complete foundation courses at the Mansfield Hub. One student who has benefitted from this is Mansfield resident Alin Chiper, who is currently completing a the third year of a business degree at NTU, having transferred from the Mansfield Hub after completing a foundation course.

“After five years of working in warehouses and factories around Mansfield, I decided to go for university,” Alin says. “I chose to study at NTU because I heard great reviews from a friend of mine, and I chose the Mansfield Hub because I live in Mansfield, and it made it so easy for me.”
As part of the course, Alin completed a work placement. “My placement was in Mansfield District Council. I found the placement very interesting, I got to meet the Mayor and the CEO and they were all helpful, trying to give me advice. Overall it was a great experience".

Alin Chiper
Alin, who grew up in Romania before moving to the UK, was unable to secure a place on a full degree initially, but NTU Mansfield allowed him a route into higher education.
“After completing two years of the foundation degree, it allowed me to go my third year, to the top-up year.” And now Alin has his sights set firmly on the future. “. I would like to do a Masters in business, or get employed in the business sector. I always had in mind opening a coffee shop, that would be my little dream, and with the knowledge and all the information I have now it would probably be easier for me to open one in Mansfield.
